Track Layout for the Streets of Lancaster Grand Prix
The renovation of downtown Lancaster and Lancaster Blvd is well underway (but will not be ready for this years GP). We have moved the course to the east end of Lancaster Blvd. incorporating the completed sections and Sierra Highway will be the main straight and Start/Finish line. This is our tentative Streets of Lancaster Grand Prix Circuit, (subject to minor changes due to road construction and safety).
The circuit features several high speed straights, sweeping turns and some tight technical sections. A lap of the course begins at the Start/Finish line on Sierra Highway (it measures approximately 700’ feet from the exit of the chicane to the right hand hairpin); from there you have a 350’ straight into a sweeping turn onto the new pavement of Lancaster Blvd. A quick left, right flick exits to a 550’ straight leading to a tight right hand hairpin, then a blast up another 350’ plus straight to a tight chicane. Exit the chicane and accelerate toward the sweeper leading onto Sierra Highway’s back straight, another quick flick takes you up the straight to the hairpin leading back toward the start finish line chicane, where you sweep through, right, left, right and blast up the straight to the Start/Finish line.
The pits are adjacent to Sierra Highway in the "Airplane on a Stick" parking lot as well as along Sierra Highway behind the track. Pits open Thursday at noon.
Spec PRD Sr. has been added to the SLGP race schedule.
Due to low pre-entry numbers the KPV 4 Sr. and the Kid Kart classes have been dropped from the SLGP schedule.
Because of the schedule change the deadline for pre-entries has been extended until September 28th, 2010.
Spoiler Alert!
A spy shot of the SLGP First Place Helmet trophy has been obtained! This picture was captured while the helmet was in transit from the painter's to a highly secured vault for safe keeping until the race. It was told that the security guard was bribed with a bag of Fritos and a Mountain Dew.
